Any recommendations? While looking for guidance, found the following site: https://routersecurity.org/SecureRouters.php.

  1. The guy recommends Peplink routers. Does anyone have any experience with them?
  2. His second recommendation is pcWRT.
  3. pfSense is mentioned along with the following article indicating some bad coding practices: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/03/buffer-overruns-license-violations-and-bad-code-freebsd-13s-close-call/.
  4. Gl.iNet recently went closed source without a formal statement: https://forum.gl-inet.com/t/formal-statement-on-gl-inet-software-going-closed-source/33288.
  5. DrayTek doesn't seem to follow good coding practices either:

… ·vulnerabilities were discovered by different researchers suggesting the vendor did not perform variant analysis after receiving individual vulnerability reports and producing patches. Additionally, the presence of similar issues in different parts of the functionality indicates a lack of "post-mortem" analysis by developers.

Also, _optout_nomap SSID suffix prevents it from appearing in public databases like WiGLE: https://superuser.com/questions/1005235/wi-fi-opt-out-microsoft-google. (It doesn't prevent it from appearing in private databases though.)
