Calcpad VM 7.0.8 is also available in portable format. The file is about 100 MB large but does not require you to install .NET 8.0. You can download it for free from this link:

Has anyone tried to run this calcpad VM version in linux? does it work? I know there is a version that works in linux but the gui component doesnt work (yet).

Really would like to have a version that can work in standard linux environment.

For the GUI version, we need to switch to Avalonia UI first.
You can work in a similar way in Linux with Sublime and Chromium side by side, after installing Calcpad under Sublime.

I take it that calcpad windows does not work with wine in linux? I havent got wine installed so i couldn't tell but if it works then i dont mind to install wine....but was hoping not to install it and then discovered that it is not going to work.

I've never tried myself and does not have any clues. I think we need to check if .NET 8.0 with WPF works on Wine at first place. Then probablaly Calcpad will work as well. If not, it will definitely not work.
