Unable to connect to servers

What happened?

I'm having trouble connecting to servers since the recent update. Once I've hit the button to connect to a specific server from the list and confirm for it to download the resource packs, the screen then freezes with "generating world" and "loading resources" being the only thing I see, and then nothing happens. It's been like that for a couple days.

Expected Behaviour?

I expected to load into a server like I did a few days ago before the latest update.

Steps to reproduce.

1. Open Minecraft
2. Click play
3. Choose a public server
4. Scroll down server list and choose the one you want to get into
5. Download resource packs

Just to confirm, is this issue happening upon selecting a featured/public server to connect to BedrockConnect, or is this occurring after selecting a game server on the BedrockConnect server list?

Once you select a game server from BedrockConnect, the connection goes completely off BedrockConnect and is joining the game server through the Minecraft game client. So if issues are happening upon joining the game server, there may be a bug on the server software the game server uses since the last update.

My son was having similar issues with his switch lite. he uses the service constantly without issue, however today no matter what server he picked it would take forever to load and would drop him in to the public "featured" server that he picked. I got my OG switch out and updated the game cleared cache etc. and its currently working as expected. i would also like to take the opportunity to thank you @Pugmatt for an awesome service! I find it kind of ridiculous that switch users need to jump through hoops like this to connect to a server on the same LAN but your solution is super easy and straightforward. on the brighter side because of this small hiccup I found this repo and found out that its possible to self host! I will definitely be trying this out!

It's happening to connect to another server on my personal list or from the main bedrock server list. I tried by going through the bnconnect to my personal list and still couldn't get through that way either.

There seems to be general issues on the Nintendo Switch version with multiplayer since the update - https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE/issues/MCPE-237519

When the update initially launched, I had noticed some (not all) players' client connections to the main BedrockConnect instance were sending incomplete info, which I was able to work around for connecting to BedrockConnect itself

My hunch is that there's a bug on the Switch version sending missing data, so game servers that aren't accounting for this are going to have issues for Switch players.

Only thing we can really do here is wait for one of the following:

• Mojang to fix the Switch version from sending the incomplete data packet
• Server software that game servers are using need to introduce a workaround similar to what I had to do for BedrockConnect here

Will continue to monitor the situation, but for now this seems like a waiting game for one of the above. (As again once you select a game server from BedrockConnect, the connection goes completely off BedrockConnect and is onto that game server through the Minecraft game client)
