second download replaced the first file

Hi,
I'm using Linux Mint Mate.
One day I download a file (mg1.png) and it finished. The next day or later, I downloaded the same file again because I forgot. Then I realized I already have downloaded the file so canceled the running download.
I checked the download folder surprised to see that it actually replaced the old file automatically. So cancel broke the file. The previously downloaded file is none since it being overwritten by the new download.

I think it should be better to just add "(1)" to the file name if there already a downloaded file.
Like how Google Chrome have it so when you downloaded for the second time there will be two files instead.
mg1 (1).png
mg1 (2).png
mg1 (3).png
...etc

That should actually work just like you described. What is your QupZilla version?

This happens if set the download preferences to "use defined location".
Application version 1.8.9
WebKit version 537.21
This program uses Qt version 5.2.1.

The normal way "ask everytime for download location" works okay at least since it directly open the folder and ask whether i want to replace file

Happens to me aswell on master branch. I have no "user defined location" set.

Works fine here (master), but I can see from the code how is it broken on 1.8.
