Hello Qwen team and community,
I am a native Bengali speaker from Chattogram, Bangladesh. I appreciate Qwen’s multilingual support, but I’ve noticed consistent errors that misrepresent Bangladeshi language and culture. These need correction for accuracy and respect.
Key issues:
- Pronunciation: জরুরি is "joruri" in Bangladesh (not "jaruri" as in Indian Bengali). একটা is "ekta", not "ēkaṭā".
- Geography: The city is Chattogram (চট্টগ্রাম). "Chottogram" is wrong. "Chittagong" is outdated — officially changed in 2018.
- Culture: "Rishta" is not used in Bangladesh. We say "biye" for marriage talks — not Urdu or Indian terms.
AI should not assume all Bengali speakers are the same. Bangladesh has its own linguistic norms, and they deserve representation.
I’m happy to help with word lists, pronunciation notes, or testing.
Jazakumullahu khayran.
