Requiring awardees to coordinate through RWSC

To address the minimum recommendation in the RWSC Science Plan related to coordination, the RWSC Steering Committee is requesting that:

  • Funders require the following activities for the research they fund by describing these expectations in requests for proposals and contract/grant scopes of work; AND/OR

  • Researchers include the following activities in their proposals to demonstrate regional coordination via RWSC.


  1. Applicant is strongly encouraged to propose work that is consistent with Science Plan recommendations. Regular participation in RWSC Subcommittee meetings affords anyone the opportunity to hear and discuss current/ongoing research and data collection activities, data gaps, needs, etc.

  2. Awardee shall provide annual progress updates to the relevant RWSC expert Subcommittee(s) by attending and providing a presentation during regularly scheduled Subcommittee meetings.

  3. At project kickoff, Awardee shall submit project information to the RWSC Research Database, review its accuracy and provide updates every 6 months.

  4. At project kickoff, or as soon as information is known, Awardee shall submit coordinates of any sensors, sampling stations, or other research activities to the appropriate RWSC Subcommittee(s) for inclusion in the Research Planning Map.

  5. Awardee shall share with the appropriate RWSC Subcommittee(s) a list of the specific data being collected, where those data are being stored, any access constraints, and who can be contacted about data use.
