Tested versions
Reproducible in 26.1 stable and current master branch as of this posting
System information
Fedora atomic derivative using SwayWM and xwayland, recent (<5 years) AMD CPU and GPU
Issue description
When the main editor window is not rendered, any secondary windows such as settings dialogs have a very high latency. This is most noticeable when trying to type in a text box, but can be observed by clicking other controls as well.
Steps to reproduce
The issue appears to occur any time the main editor window is not rendered. There are at least two methods that work to reproduce this:
- Open Redot editor in a tabbed Sway container and open any dialog, covering the main editor window completely.
- Open Redot editor normally, open a dialog, then move said dialog to another workspace and switch to that workspace, leaving the main editor out of view.
- Open Redot editor in a tabbed Sway container with another item such as a terminal. Open any dialog and move it out of the tabbed container. Switch the tabbed container to another item, covering up the main editor window.
With method 3, you can bring the editor back to the front of the tabbed container to demonstrate that the bug does not occur when the main window is in view.
Minimal reproduction project (MRP)
N/A - use any project or an empty project
