error compiling cli chameleon ultra

hello, when I try to compile the cli in windows I get this error.
I have not idea how can solve it because my level of programming is low.

This looks consistent with an architecture-detection problem in the GerHobbelt/pthread-win32 dependency used by the Windows CMake path. One likely cause is that its cmake/target_arch.cmake uses try_run() with a small C program that checks MSVC-style _M_* macros without any #include directives; in some GCC/MinGW-based setups that may fall through to unknown.

I haven't reproduced this locally on Windows yet, so I can't confirm that's the exact cause in your case. Could you share your exact toolchain/environment (MSVC, MinGW-w64, MSYS2, clang-cl, etc.), whether this is a 32-bit or 64-bit build, and the full CMake configure output?

For reference, the CI currently builds on windows-latest in an MSVC environment, so this may not show up there even if it fails in a different Windows toolchain.

Thank you for answering my question. My computer's architecture is x64, but the problem is I don't have much programming experience and I don't quite understand how to solve it. I follow the steps on the RfidResearchGroup GitHub repository, first installing Proxspace and then continuing with the subsequent steps. The problem arises when I run cmake., which gives me the error mentioned earlier. Then I go to the file that's flagging the error and I find the following:

Thanks for the extra details — that confirms the root cause.

ProxSpace ships with MinGW-w64/MSYS2, and the current CMake logic uses the pthreads4w dependency for all Windows builds. That dependency runs MSVC-specific architecture detection during CMake configure, which fails under MinGW — exactly the error you're seeing.

I prepared a project-side fix that splits the Windows thread handling:

• MSVC builds keep using pthreads4w (unchanged)
• MinGW/ProxSpace builds use the native CMake Threads package instead

A fix for this is now submitted as PR #379 — it splits the Windows CMake threading path so MinGW/MSYS2 uses the native Threads package instead of pthreads4w.

@josmargoncal if you can test it, the PR build artifacts are available (see the bot comment on the PR) or you can check out the branch directly. That would help confirm the fix works in your ProxSpace setup before it gets merged.
