Images aren't viewable on macOS

I tried this with some test images from my iPhone and iPad, but some of the images aren't really viewable. Am I holding this wrong?

Using the following code:

let image = NSImage(byReferencing: source)
let data = SDImageJPEGXLCoder.shared.encodedData(with: image, format: .JPEGXL, options: nil)

I get results like this

I attached a zip file so you can see the files I used.
