Description
Description:
It would be very useful if the generator could automatically pull and add attributes (metadata) from well-known vocabularies and
specialized ontologies.
Examples of well-known vocabularies include:
- FOAF (Friend of a Friend) → for persons and organizational agents
- GeoNames / GeO → for geographic and spacial entities
- SKOS → for taxonomies and organizations
PROV-O → for provenance metadata
Examples of specialized ontologies include:
- PO (Plant Ontology)
- TO (Trait Ontology)
- ChEBI (Chemical Entities of Biological Interest)
- OBI (Ontology for Biomedical Investigations), etc.
Why this is valuable:
- Increases interoperability with established linked data standards
- Reduces redundancy by leveraging existing semantic structures
- Makes generated data more machine-actionable and integrable across domains
Potential Approach:
- Provide configuration options to enable/disable specific vocabularies
- Allow users to map generator-specific attributes to external ontology terms
- Auto-suggest commonly used properties (e.g., foaf:name, skos:prefLabel, prov:wasGeneratedBy)
