Dear all,
We are currently recruiting a PhD student for our newly funded DFG project “Integrative Multiscale Seismic Full-Waveform Inversion (FWI) for the Adria Plate (IMFWI-Adria)”, conducted in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, in collaboration with Ruhr-Universität Bochum within the Priority Programme DEFORM (“Plate Deformation and Geohazards”).
The position focuses on computational seismology and HPC-based waveform inversion, aiming to develop a high-resolution 3D P- and S-wave velocity model of the circum-Adriatic region by integrating regional earthquake, ambient noise, and teleseismic waveform data.
We are particularly looking for candidates with a strong background or interest in full-waveform inversion, numerical wave propagation, and geodynamics.
The PhD student will have access to JUWELS Booster at JSC and will collaborate closely with partners at GFZ Potsdam and ETH Zürich.
