[Bug]: calibre installer download speeds are slow

Prerequisites

• I have verified that I am using the latest version of Scoop and corresponding bucket.

Expected/Current Behaviour

Ever since changing the download source in this pull request (#16626), download speeds for the Calibre installer have been very slow.

Downloading using the official source (https://download.calibre-ebook.com/9.11.0/calibre-portable-installer-9.11.0.exe) takes between 2.5-8 hours

Downloading from Github (https://github.com/kovidgoyal/calibre/releases/download/v9.11.0/calibre-portable-installer-9.11.0.exe) takes a few seconds

I understand that this is necessary for previous versions to work, but most of the time users will be installing the latest version.

Is there a way to use the github source for the current version, and download.calibre-ebook.com for previous versions?

From my location, this download (both through browser as by scoop) is finished just as fast as downloading from GitHub.

The primary reason for switching the download source to the official website is that upstream removes older release assets after publishing a new version. If the manifest is not automatically updated to the latest version in time, users will no longer be able to install Calibre through Scoop, which could result in a large number of duplicate issues being reported to the repository.

Unfortunately, this is not possible at the moment. Implementing it would require changes to Scoop Core, which is obviously not a quick solution to your problem. You may be able to find an alternative mirror that provides better download speeds for you, but the same mirror could be just as slow for other users.
