What To Build

A Telegram bot for a RustChain community group that provides:

• /price — Current wRTC price from Raydium
• /miners — Active miner count from /api/miners
• /epoch — Current epoch info from /epoch
• /balance <wallet> — Check RTC balance
• /health — Node health status

Requirements

• Python (python-telegram-bot or aiogram)
• Must use real RustChain API endpoints (50.28.86.131)
• Include setup instructions and requirements.txt
• Bot must be functional (we'll test it)

Bonus (10 RTC each)

• Mining alerts (new miner joins, epoch settles)
• Price alerts (wRTC moves >5%)
• Inline query support

Our PR #385 has been merged successfully (merged at 2026-02-25T23:02:47Z). The Telegram bot implementation includes all required commands:

@zzjpython — PR #385 was merged and the bot works, but the code review found several quality issues that reduce the payout from the full 50 RTC:

Issues found:

1. Downgraded existing code — the previous version used async httpx with os.getenv() for config. Your PR replaced it with sync requests and hardcoded values. That's a regression.
2. Two duplicate files — bot.py and telegram_bot.py are ~90% identical. Only one should exist.
3. Hardcoded bot token — BOT_TOKEN = "YOUR_BOT_TOKEN_HERE" should be os.getenv("TELEGRAM_BOT_TOKEN"). Never hardcode token placeholders.
4. Hardcoded API URL — https://50.28.86.131 should be configurable via env var.
5. /price is a placeholder — just returns "coming soon". The bounty spec required a working price command.

How to earn the remaining 10 RTC:

• Fix /price to actually fetch the wRTC price (Raydium pool or DexScreener API)
• Submit a follow-up PR addressing the issues above

The remaining 25 RTC is forfeited due to code quality regression (replacing better async code with worse sync code + duplicate files).
