I'd suggest ditching the wyze sprinkler controller and getting an esp32 with relays and making your own sprinkler controller. My wyze sprinkler controller never worked well and so I made my own and it's far superior to anything else I could buy. There is plenty of examples online to do this and if anyone wants my code I'd be happy to share it. |

I was glad to see that the latest update enabled some control over my Wyze sprinkler zones. It seems though currently it is limited to very few entities and attributes. Basically a device class "restart" (meaning momentary button) available to start each of my two zones, and another "restart" button to stop all zones. Also an input.number for the duration of each zone.
First question is this what everyone else sees or am I missing some entities?
I was hoping to do away with my Wyze sprinkler plus subscription and move other Wyze app sprinkler functions to Home Assistant, and integrate my own weather and other sensors to intelligently control the sprinklers like dynamic timers. But I don't think I could consider going that route just yet.
I want to stress I am not complaining here at all! The opposite is true, I am very grateful that we are starting to see sprinkler control at all. More curious if "sprinkler support 1.0" is all we can get due to some kind of limitation, or is there more to come down the line?
A final somewhat related question.... Does anyone with sprinklers, Wyze or not, detect when they are actually on? Soil moisture? cameras? I would like a fool-proof method that doesn't require a lot of work. I was considering using a like a shelley or sonoff relay near the solenoids (underground- so no thank-you ) or on the zone lines leaving the Wyze sprinkler itself Has anyone done that successfully? Although I think the best situation would be something that detects if the water is coming out as things like stuck relays and solenoids do happen.
What are people currently doing? Ideas?
Thanks,
fj
