Hi, 4 quick questions. I already have open-wrt on 5 routers in my house so am used to the platform.

1. Does the pre-built image you provide include Chirpstack for running the device locally?
2. I future proofed the device with a mobile phone SIM card option. I think this is available in OpenWRT (although I don’t use). Does the open source firmware keep this functionality?
3. none of the routers I have have Bluetooth. Do I lose this function or does it appear as a radio on OpenWRT?
4. is there a way to backup my current Chirpstack setup or do I have to recreate it?

3 was my mistake. I misremembered the process for setting up the device as Bluetooth like most of my devices, but it is just Wifiand a blue icon.
I was actually thinking that I never use the networking capabilities (eg. TTN) so I might as well just install chirpstack, so this is like the reverse of what I want. Guessing I just make my own version using the Chirpstack GitHub? I've never been to their GitHub, but I know Chirpstack isn't a normal OpenWRT package as I've looked.

What I meant by 4 was that I have 4 devices/applications on chirpstack can I move them to a new setup without going through the setup process again? With a cloud based service I guess most of the work is outside and saved but I would be deleting everything.

I have purchased SenseCAP M2 LoRaWAN indoor gateway
Model: M2-EU868
Firm ware: Multi-platform version
Iam using this in INDIA (IN865)
I have configured everything as per quickstart guide in the console
And I tried connecting to TTN
I was unable to see the connected status in the TTN registered gateway
Do I need to flash any firmware for IN 865 or the default factory firmware support indian band?

Additionally, our gateway supports IN865. You only need to modify the channel plan.

Also after rebooting my sensecap m2 lorawan indoor gateway from console it's disconnecting from PC and not reconnecting again automatically, stuck at finding devices also the logo light on top is blinking red slowly
If anyone knows or experienced this, help me out

Additionally, our gateway is not a router. After issuing the reboot command from the console, the device will exit configuration mode (indicated by the blue LED flashing slowly). You must manually press and hold the button for 5 seconds to re-enter configuration mode (i.e., as an AP) in order to reconnect.

Hello everyone, I have a sensecap M2 4G with openvpn being the only solution on the cellular network to keep control since the public IP changes so I installed openvpn server on a local server but I also wanted to test chirpstack OS on an rpi with a lorawan hat and I noticed that this version is lighter kernel: important information for those who want to use ChirpStack Gateway OS connected in 4G with OpenVPN this is no longer possible because it has been replaced by Wireguard which is better but you must therefore configure a new Wireguard server.

Chirpstack Os: is a modified and stripped down OpenWrt distribution, compiled with a minimal kernel intended for stability and industrial compatibility.

Detail: ChirpStack Gateway OS, I discovered that the OpenVPN client is impossible to operate, even if LuCI displays the available packages (openvpn-openssl, openvpn-mbedtls, etc.). The tun module is missing and cannot be found: its kernel is light.
The ChirpStack OS kernel does not contain CONFIG_TUN, so no OpenVPN tunnel (nor SoftEther) can work.
Can you confirm this?

I decided against flashing the ROM. The vanilla version is based on OpenWrt 21.02.0 r1-20220615 r16279-5ccc0535800, but I don't know what version of chirpstack that relates to. If you put a modern version of Chirpstack on it does it not allow wire guard? I am running the latest OpenWrt (24.10.04 I think) and definitely have wireguard tunnels.

Are you running the Chirpstack/OpenWrt having flashed the M2 or the version that comes with an M2?

Hello, currently I kept the official M2 version with openvpn as a client, I installed an openvpn server and the dialog gateway in udp via LNS chirpstack and everything works very well like that but I wanted to try Os chirpstack on RPI also having a lorawan hat but apparently does not support 4G USB key nor openvpn because the installed kernel is light "kernel custom" and impossible to install what is missing so I must have missed a few things especially since the update does not specify that 4g does not work and also in administration then ssh access then "cellular" interface exists? I remain in the official version as long as no one gives feedback on the fact that 4G works with Os Chirpstack

Otherwise you say: I use the latest OpenWrt (24.10.04 I think) and I definitely have wireguard tunnels.
could you provide the site and image link please.
Also do you have 4g or just ethernet?

I don't think the Vanilla Version of the M2 has the packages for Wireguard but here they work in OpenWrt on my router. As Wireguard is simpler and requires less processing it'd be nice if they added the option to the next firmware update. Are you saying that the version of software shipped with the M2 lacks OpenVPN packages?
Are you using the USB-C marked for developer use in the manual as a standard USB port? I do not know what USB skills it has but I'd be surprised if the USB-C port could be used for mobile phone networking. I know it does serial so I was thinking of using it connect to a simple microcontroller and from there to a meshtastic device. My thinking is that the OpenVpn is for either between chirpstack server and chirpstack gateway, although the data is already encrypted so I don't know what the point is or the chirpstack server after decryption and an OpenVpn Server but I haven't tested it.

You can buy off the shelf OpenWrt 4G routers so it definitely isn't that, plus loads of LoraWAN hubs have SIM card options.

For those who have put Os Chirpstack on their Sensecap M2 4G gateway.

1. does 4G work? because I encounter the same problem as for openvpn on the rpi, there are missing packets not present for my 4G usb key: Huawei E3372 h-153

Conclusion :
Unless you notice: I have the impression that Os chirpstack, whether basic or full, currently works for me only in ethernet or wifi with wireguard but not with a 4G usb key but may be possible with a 4G module on UART (SIM7600 or Quectel EC25 in serial mode but this increases the price

Too bad because the Os Chirpstack interface is a real plus for creating a gateway so the kernel should integrate the possibility of managing 4g and openvpn usb keys for my part so as not to limit the choices.

If you have found solutions: please share them.

why are you trying to use the USB for 4G when the manual says:

put the 4G SIM in the SIM slot.
