Summary

Hello,

Could BLE firmware OTA update support be added for the supported Silicon Labs Arduino boards?

At the moment, it seems the current bootloader does not support BLE OTA updates, or there is not currently a documented way to enable this from the Arduino environment.

This would be very useful for battery-powered IoT devices that are installed in the field and cannot easily be updated over J-link.

If this is already possible, it would be helpful to have a simple example or documentation showing the intended approach.

Thank you for your request! An BLE OTA bootloader would be great, I agree.
The current bootloader is only responsible for storing writing new images, however I can imagine implementing a library which is responsible for the BLE part, so that you can include it in your sketch and have the full functionality.
We'd be happy to have this if you or someone from the community opens a PR.

Some enablement will be needed form us first as it looks like the bootloader symbols are not available right now: #124
