SkyCrypt Backend Licensing Notice
SkyCrypt Backend is primarily licensed under the GNU Affero General Public
License version 3 (GNU AGPLv3).
Unless a more specific license notice applies, SkyCrypt-owned source code,
documentation, configuration, build scripts, generated API documentation, and
other original backend materials introduced or modified by SkyCrypt contributors
from the June 2026 license-change commit onward are licensed under GNU AGPLv3.
This repository did not contain a root MIT license at the time this notice was
added. This license transition does not revoke, replace, or limit any rights
that may have been granted for earlier versions, files, or contributions under
their original terms.
Third-party libraries, APIs, resource packs, Minecraft/Mojang-derived assets,
NotEnoughUpdates data, SkyHelper data, and other external resources remain under
their respective licenses and terms. Their inclusion in this repository, in the
runtime service, or in built output does not relicense them under GNU AGPLv3.
The following asset groups are not offered under the repository's GNU AGPLv3
default:
- assets/resourcepacks/FurfSky/**
- assets/resourcepacks/Hypixel_Plus/**
- assets/resourcepacks/Vanilla/**
- assets/static/armor/**
- assets/static/potions/**
- assets/static/sea_creatures/**
- NotEnoughUpdates-REPO/**
The NotEnoughUpdates-REPO directory is a git submodule and is a separate
project with its own upstream license and notices.
Built output generated from SkyCrypt-owned AGPL-covered source is covered by
GNU AGPLv3, except for third-party components and assets, which retain their
own license notices.
SkyCrypt names, service names, and branding references are not licensed for use
in a way that is confusing, misleading, or suggests endorsement by the SkyCrypt
project.
