This is not an issue but is causing some problems.

Adding an option to avoid that behavior would be quite a help.

Example: In other emulators, if I want to add 5000 coins to the game, I just activate the code and then disable it. The 5000 coins will remain there.

There are many other situations where keep the values are a nice option.

What kind of cheat code are you using? I can't imagine game genie codes would be affected by this considering they only "edit" ROM memory?

For codes that affect RAM, Mesen doesn't alter the value in RAM, it just changes the value the CPU reads (much like a game genie does with ROM). I think FCEUX overwrites the values in RAM every frame or something akin (not sure what happens if the game keeps writing another value to the RAM address several times per frame in this case), which is probably why the code has an impact even once it's disabled.

I'm using the "custom" codes option. I'd wish to have more knowledge and give you more details about it. I don't know if it is RAM or ROM.

Yea, these are RAM codes (essentially anything that's a custom code with the address set to less than $8000 will be a RAM code).

I can understand why you would want to do this this way, since it's more convenient than trying to alter RAM manually using the memory tools or Lua scripts. I'm just not too sure how to present such an option in terms of UI.

How about a "Apply cheat to RAM" option (or something akin) in the right-click menu on the cheat list? Doing this would not activate the cheat, but instead "permanently" alter the contents of RAM a single time when you click on it. This would do what you're trying to achieve (e.g alter the values in RAM once, without forcing the values in RAM to always keep that value)

The PCSX2 emulator gives you these choices:

0 = the cheat is applied once.
1 = the cheat is applied constantly, on every frame.

By the default is the second option. Maybe adding a check mark (unchecked by default) like this:

[] Apply cheat just once.

The idea is to make it sounds not so complicated :)
