Can't open the STEP file

I tried opening the "uHoubolt.step" in various programs.
Results so far:

• FreeCAD doesn't open it and says in the log:

I reported the issue on the FreeCAD forum, they say it's likely an issue with the file: https://forum.freecad.org/viewtopic.php?t=91339

• VariCAD 2023-1.05 opens it without any problem, except finding 2 solids with missing patches. Could have stopped there, but when re-exporting from VariCAD into STEP, resulting 95 MB file freezes every app I tried (except VariCAD).

• CAD Exchanger tries importing it, almost succeeds, but then freezes or crashes.

• KOMPAS-3D v18.1 "imports" it, and creates absolutely empty native .m3d file.

• STEP File Analyzer and Viewer by NIST crashes or freezes, but it has the well known issue with large STEP files.

It appears that something is wrong with that .step file. Maybe you can export it again from SolidWorks?

I also think that it's better to add .step files of sub-assemblies in addition to full assembly file. Something like µHoubolt_CAD_SolidWorks.zip but with .step files.
