Splide carousel in a tab which is not visible on load. How to make it 'refresh' when visible?

I'm adding splide carousels in tabs on a page. When a splide is initialised in a not-visible container, and then subsequently made visible (by clicking the tab title), the carousel is running, but the alignment is off - it needs to re-evaluate the spacing between each item. If i resize the screen to a responsive viewport it wakes up, but how can i trigger this re-evaluation with a click event?
