Unable to authenticate due to "unusual login attempt"

I was logged in from that device already but due to strange 401 errors that a friend does not have I thought I need to login again or something. So I tried that (by renaming the folder in .local/share/IsolatedStorage) but the Steam app will just prompt me with "unusual sign in attempt" and no matter what I chose from the options below it gets denied by Steam.

Does anyone know how to get logged in when that happens? The options (to the question "Where are you trying to sign in?") I have are

• Steam Mobile App
• Steam Client
• Through my web browser
• I'm not trying to sign in to Steam

All options pretty much give the same sub menu which lists scam attempts and another option "Other" but even selecting Other just gets blocked straight away
