One of the easiest exercises. It helps to display the Meridian. Further, use the ArchaeoLines plugin, so that you can select Sirius and display its declination line. I don't know what you mean "I cannot make Stellarium look into a fixed direction towards south". Just don't track a star. |

What settings to use to measure the sidereal day? From a given location I would like to look towards a fixed direction with a circular occular FoV (compass enabled and cross-hair enabled). But it seems that I cannot make Stellarium look into a fixed direction towards south. My goal is then to chose a declination so that fx Sirius will cross the meridian line (North-South cross hair). From this one should step forward in time and measure the sidereal day.
