OCR in Appimage can't be enabled

I am using the v2.10.0 appimage version and I don't see how to use OCR. The feature sees no languages installed and the link to 'View setup guide' doesn't seem to work. I already have Tesseract and ocrmypdf installed and working with two languages.

This is a known limitation of the AppImage version. The AppImage bundles Tesseract internally but fails to access system-installed ocrmypdf and related libraries due to its sandboxed environment — so even though you have Tesseract and ocrmypdf working on your system, the AppImage can't see them [1]. There are also broader shared library compatibility issues reported with AppImage v2.10.0 [2].

Workarounds:

• Use the standalone JAR (Stirling-PDF.jar) from the release artifacts — it properly detects system-installed Tesseract and ocrmypdf and is the most reliable desktop option for OCR right now [1].
• Use Docker (stirlingtools/stirling-pdf:latest-fat) if you want everything bundled with no setup.

An open PR (#5092) is working on fixing AppImage-specific dependency issues including library linking [3], but it hasn't been merged yet.
