latest master (rewrite) does not work

After compiling the latest master with the new deps, the app launches but is simply stuck on the purple gradient screen. The stremio UI never loads. I think the server side is working however.

yes, some changes are needed on stremio-web to allow this rewrite to work
what you can do is clone the master branch of stremio-web, replace https for http in webpack.config.js and do npm install / npm start then run the shell binary with the -d flag

i'll make a new release for the linux shell as soon as the stremio-web changes are released

yeah I see, so you're saying run stremio-server separately and then run stremio-linux-shell without the built-in server?

The -d flag seems to open devtools, not disable the built in server

i was instructing you to clone the stremio-web repository (which is what this app is using as UI) to try it out because some changes were needed there to work with the shell rewrite
and yes the -d flag is there to enable development mode, to open dev tools and use the address from the dev server of stremio-web instead of web.stremio.com
now the changes are deployed so you shouldn't have to do this
just reload the page and it should work

oh yeah, you're right. seems to have done something though it's very buggy and i can't sign in

no errors in compilation, server seems to work just fine as i can watch stuff through web with it, nodejs version 22, all deps i added are shown on the link in original comment

could this issue be re-opened? This issue is still occuring even after the stremio web was updated as shown by the above screenshot. Is there possibly some dep that I am missing?

Hi, you probably should not make a package based on main branch as it's treated like a development branch, it's best to use the latest tag / release

Yes I completely understand, I'm not pushing a package to nixpkgs still based on that rev, I'm simply making a package for my own needs which are based on that rev. To avoid issues including the fact that the old version is a little buggy. It's best to get issues like these solved before they end up in a release too, that's usually how open-source development / bug reporting works - if something doesn't work on latest tag, has it already been fixed in master? etc etc.

You have to understand that:
This is a repository for beta software, which in itself means that it will be bugs if you choose to use it
The main branch is treated as a development so also expected to have maybe even more bugs compared to the beta releases

"I'm simply making a package for my own needs which are based on that rev." That's great but outside the scope of this repository, which issues are meant to report bugs present with tagged/released versions, that's why i closed yours

currently i am using the stremio-enhanced appimage in lieu of stremio-linux-shell right now, can't use the old stremio shell because it uses unmaintained qtdeclaritive qt5, so its not cached in nixpkgs
