On Wayland, subtitles window's position is ignored

Installed latest version through apt.
In preferences I can edit all the coordinates and settings of the subtitles bar. However X, Y and rotation doesn't affect the output. When I try to change it in ini file and restart the app, the result is the same - the app ignores this values. This may be connected with wayland?

I cannot even drag and drop the bar. It doesn't respond.

I'll try to reproduce, which versions of ubuntu are you using?

Yeah, it's really weird. I installed subtivals after a long time. i used it without flaws in the past.

I tried two different computers with ubuntu 24.04 lts and 25.10. Both with the same result.
I even tried to downgrade subtivals to older versions in apt repositories (1.8.0 was the oldest that was installable on 25.10). The result was the same - the black box cannot be moved
I tried the computer with one and with two displays. There is no difference.

When I try to move the black box with the mouse, it doesn't move, but the coordinates in the preferences change according to my mouse movement.

The black box simply ignores the x,y and rotation settings.

Height and width works fine.

I tried to look at this, and indeed, Wayland does not allow clients to position their windows. It's their design choice, only the window manager is allowed to position windows.

I tried to force the old x11 system (xwayland) but it doesn't detect the screens properly. I don't understand why.

The only workaround I can think of is to set the subtitles window as fullscreen, but a with transparent background, and draw the black rectangle at position (x, y). It should work, but I don't think I'll be able to fix this limitation before the release of 2.0, as I don't want to risk the working behaviour on other platforms.

One of my friends who has ubuntu 24.04 (where you can start into xorg) reported that even in xorg session he cannot move the subtitles but I wasn't with him to check whether it was really xorg started. I will let you know whether I can reproduce on xorg.
