some aspects cannot be used for searching

There are quite a few tags that you can't search with. Here's a few:

• Omen
• Device
• Wood

I think there are a few more as well, though I can't recall them at the moment. I'll note them here when I next encounter them.

Am I right in saying that the solution here would be to add the missing tags to some category in aspects.ts? Is there a good way to get a list of the exact names of all the aspects? It looks like maybe the Secret Histories API would allow fetching all elements of the Compendium which are aspects. If that's the case, I can have a go at finding the missing ones and adding them, though I currently don't have the DLC so I will miss any which aren't listed without having the DLC installed.

Do you mean the Ctrl+K search, or the tables? The Ctrl+K search uses the Secret Histories API to match against all keywords, so that should be guarenteed to find any aspect.

If its the tables, they usually get their aspect lists from here, but some pages have their own internal hard-coded lists. They can be found by searching for filterHasAnyAspect for hard filters, and the aspectsList helper for individual columns.

Usually when debugging this, I make manual calls to the secret history API while the game is running to investigate what tokens are available and what the internal aspect names are. There's also API calls to get a list of all aspects, but there are an unreasonable amount of them and most of them are internal use only. You can get a half decent UI for this here, which should connect to your running game when you use the "try it out" buttons.

If you let me know what pages and columns are missing what aspects, I can add them in.

I think that the interface I want for many searches is a bit different from what's present in this app so I might also make a spreadsheet. Or maybe I can add a specific page, if the right calls are available.

What I want is to be able to sort and filter all things which you can make in any way and have notes on how to create that thing. e.g. if there is a memory which you can get by talking to a certain entity, or considering a particular object, that method should be in this list. I think this is especially useful for memories as you can't stockpile them. For drinks and sustenance, I can stock things and then search for things I currently have. But when looking for memories for upgrading skills, especially for later upgrades, it would be nice to be able to put in the powers I'm targeting and get a list of all memories, including ones made via methods other than a skill.

I'm not sure if the API will give me a spoiler-free list of all memories that I've previously made and how I made them. Looking at the docs, I see that it can show how many times a given recipe has been executed. Do you know if the game also tracks how many times other methods have been used to get an item?

The 'recipe execution count' mechanism was sadly removed from Book of Hours in one of the updates. The documentation site still shows it, but only because the API mod works on both Book of Hours and Cultist Simulator, and on Cultist Simulator that feature still works.

The only remaining system that can reasonably tell you what recipes you 'know' is what the game calls ambits. That's the thing that shows the recipe list next to a work station, and 'unlocks' when you slot the correct requirements. This system is independent from general recipes, and only works for recipes that are specifically set up for it. This is the main reason why the crafting page is limited to certain recipes; its puling from ambits. At one point it did show everything, but given the update to remove recipe execution counts, I had to scale it back.

The only other way we can track 'known' recipes is the memories of mastered books, since mastering a book changes its aspects. The books page uses that to gate whether or not to show you the memory for each book.

It sounds like you want something a combination ambits / mastered book memory page. But to get any other recipe tracking would require me to remake the recipe execution counter from scratch. That is something I have considered doing, but so far I haven't gotten around to it. The only real problem is figuring out how to store the extra data into the game save file. If we did re-add it, it would give you exactly what you want. Recipes make up every possible interaction the game has, including the 'other methods'. Even the day/night cycle is a recipe; I used to use the counter to tell you how many days had passed.
