Improving FAIRness

This catalogue is an approach to systematically documenting the Swarm products

There is a broader goal of improving FAIRness of these products. Some references:

Some ideas:

• Get the DOIs
• Extend JSON-LD in handbook pages to make them better indexed
• (navigate the awkward boundary between EO-CAT and Swarm handbook - is it really not possible to plug these data items into EO-CAT?)
• (Generate SPASE records)
  • wait and see what happens with the "SPASE 3.0" idea
  • maybe having them generated from HAPI is more realistic
• Keep an eye on recommendations from IHDEA - see e.g. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.asr.2024.05.052 section 6

Nasa HelioData (https://helio.data.nasa.gov) is driven by SPASE records - pursuing SPASE for Swarm is probably most realistic way to get Swarm products more discoverable through Nasa services. That tool will be extended with HAPI links/viewer, and there is growing momentum behind generating SPASE records through HAPI. In short: focus on improving the metadata attached to our VirES+HAPI service and the rest might happen without our effort needed.
