Total Tests: 11 test cases (including sub-tests for status codes)
- Total Test Files Created: 7
- Total Test Cases: 134+
- Testing Framework: Go standard testing + testify (assert/require)
- Testing Patterns Used:
- Table-driven tests
- Given-When-Then structure
- Edge case coverage
- Happy path and error scenarios
- Integration tests where appropriate
- Mock objects and test doubles
The following files were identified as not easily unit testable or requiring integration tests:
cmd/github-mcp-server/main.go- Main entry point (integration test territory)cmd/github-mcp-server/generate_docs.go- Document generation utilitycmd/mcpcurl/main.go- CLI tool (integration test territory)internal/ghmcp/server.go- Server initialization (integration test territory)pkg/github/tools.go- Tool registration/configuration (primarily declarative)pkg/raw/raw_mock.go- Simple endpoint pattern definitions (static data)internal/githubv4mock/query.go- Vendored code from shurcooL/graphql
These files would benefit more from integration or end-to-end tests rather than unit tests.
All generated tests follow these principles:
- Clear Naming: Test names clearly describe what is being tested
- Given-When-Then Structure: Tests follow AAA (Arrange-Act-Assert) pattern
- Comprehensive Coverage: Happy paths, edge cases, and error scenarios
- Isolation: Each test is independent and can run in any order
- Maintainability: Tests use helper functions and clear assertions
- Documentation: Comments explain the test purpose and expected behavior
- Real-World Scenarios: Tests cover actual usage patterns
To run all the newly created tests:
# Run all tests
go test ./...
# Run tests for a specific package
go test ./pkg/buffer
go test ./pkg/translations
go test ./pkg/github
go test ./internal/profiler
go test ./internal/githubv4mock
# Run with coverage
go test -cover ./...
# Run with verbose output
go test -v ./...- Run the test suite to verify all tests pass
- Check code coverage to identify any remaining gaps
- Add integration tests for the untested files (cmd/, internal/ghmcp/)
- Consider adding benchmarks for performance-critical code (e.g., ring buffer)
- Set up CI/CD to run tests automatically on each commit
