More documentation for importing events?

I am able to render a calendar, but would like to know how I can import events from an iCal feed, a shared calendar, etc. to conveniently show users the latest calendar and also allow non-developers to update the calendar within a calendar app like Outlook, Apple Calendar, Google Calendar.
