This is mainly to implement connectivity to the defunct gamespy service and is maintained to provide support to open sourced games that rely on it, specifically C&C Generals, Zero Hour and Renegade, though it would probably be fine for other games that used it if their source is released.

Long term I expect the open source projects working with those code bases to implement their own solutions for match making and will no longer require this library in which case it will only really be of use as a reference.
