Custom MPC software controller

Hi guys, I am going from hobbiest beatmaking to indepth personal controller design. I've used other controllers in the past but none interface with the Akai software the way their native controllers do and I wanted to have that but using my own custom design modeled after the mpc x. I thought about the renaisance but it's a bit outdated to this current workflow (but I did almost by it pure off aesthetic) and I wanted to ensure that the software and hardware would work just as good as a an akai controller. I'm a pure rookie, I don't even have a logic analyzer or 3-d printer yet but I wanted to see about getting some help from people and I stumbled across this page. It seems like you guys are pretty knowlegeable about the current language akai is using right now and are at least familiar with sniffing out some of the protocols so if I could get a bit of insite before I blow about $500 on this project that'd be 110%.
