New .json file name conventions?

I ran the program but any photo that didn't have the date in the name of the photo failed to get a new date even though the associated .json file had the correct data. All the successful dates were inferred from file names. Is this because of the "new" longer .json file names? Example:

photoname.jpg.supplemental-metadata.json

More than 10% of my 25k photos do not have names with the date in them, but almost all of them had correct metadata in Google Photos and have that data in the .json file.

I also ran into this issue. Most of the photos and videos were skipped when combining dates with them. I think you're right about the "supplemental-metadata.json" being very new,

Assuming you can install the perl rename command, running this in the takeout directory can fix the json naming issue:

find . -depth -name "*.*.json" -exec rename 's/\.[^.]+\.json$/.json/' {} +

You can double check the operation before renaming with:

find . -depth -name "*.*.json" -exec rename -n 's/\.[^.]+\.json$/.json/' {} +
