It would be good to provide some examples containing some real world or fictitious data, for new publishers.

If we go the fictitious route, we might consider feeding the schema to an LLM and asking it to generate some records at varying degrees of "completeness". If we go the realworld route, I recommend just linking off to https://registry.threesixtygiving.org/ which provides actual examples.

If we do this then I think it's an "either or both" situation, depending on the need. The publisher guidance has less governance associated with it, so that would be a good first bet.

In general, I think we should be providing examples/samples based on user need, and then linking to them from specific spaces. That can either be from the normative docs or from the publisher guidance.

In practical terms, I think we should host the examples either in this repo under an examples folder or in a dedicated repo. We can set up a Github action to validate all examples against the schema (including spreadsheet ones).

Currently we think this isn't a priority - we get a lot of feedback from publishers and we don't think they would find this that useful - especially when they can look at published data to see real examples

I agree. I think it's more useful to just link off to the registry to let people go to see real examples.
