Is there a way to have Tabviews display their titles (or icons) vertically?

i.e. can you make the buttons stack on the left, vertically? I'm thinking along the lines of like a vertical nav bar?

Or maybe there's a better way to display a vertical nav bar I'm missing? I like the implementation here, but its a little complex / have to mess with screen managers and stuff. Was hoping for a lighter solution, if possible :-)
