I've been setting up openQA with one of our VP4650 (#58). It doesn't support TXT need to switch to a VP5670 instead, but that later.

The main issue with it was that the network interfaces wouldn't get up during the boot of Quebes installer as I wanted to use iPXE to provide the installation media.

Instead I went with mounting it using PiKVM but the ks.cfg still needs to be downloaded using HTTP and the network interfaces are not being configured, so it still fails.

I've run sh from inside the initramfs and configured the first interface manually which worked just fine and I was able to send a http request to the openqa server using curl. On Ubuntu the interfaces work fine, without any delays. In journalctl I couldn't see any logs related to either eth0 nor enp1s0 interface other than eth0 being renamed to the latter. I've tried passing kernel parameters in grub to configure an interface, like ip=192.168.10.241::192.168.10.1:255.255.255.0::eth0 but to no avail.

On the Protectli VP4670 the interfaces are being configured in anaconda, at least that;s after leaving the installer over night.

What's more interesting is that there are two default gateways configured

which can definitely cause network issues. It is most probably an ethernet over USB interface with the PiKVM. It definitely has to be turned off, or routing has to be enabled in PiKVM.

Adding the kernel parameters to anaconda:

ip=192.168.10.241::192.168.10.1:255.255.255.0::enp1s0 bootdev=enp1s0

makes the network work. I can connect to the device via ssh.
Telling to use dhcp instead of a static IP makes anaconda freeze for at least a couple minutes. We are already giving a static IP address to the workers in workers.ini so I guess it is not a big problem to use it here.

Main part of platform support has been merged with 3mdeb/openqa-tests-qubesos#3. There are still some networking issues that will hopefully be resolved in follow-up PR.
