Hi,

I have a Trilium installation on a Debian server and a Raspberry Pi at home as a backup.

There is a sync between these two, now when I create a share for a note the link is from the other setup.

I open https://trilium.mydomain.com/share/ID in Browser and share a link and the created Link is http://10.my.local.ip/share/ID

If the sync server is empty the correct link is created

This behavior happens because Trilium determines the base URL for shared links based on configuration and sync state. In a multi-server sync setup, the base URL can be stored or propagated between instances—so if one server uses a local/private IP, that address may be used for shared links even when accessed via your public domain. This is a known limitation and is influenced by how Trilium handles configuration and synchronization between servers. There is ongoing work to improve shared URL generation, as seen in the open pull request to "clean share url"—but it is not yet merged or released in your version see PR 5832.

Currently, there are no official configuration options or best practices documented for overriding the base URL in this scenario see Sharing wiki. As a workaround, ensure that all instances use the correct public domain in their configuration/environment, and avoid syncing from a server that only knows its local IP. Monitoring future releases for improvements in this area is recommended.
