Trilium randomly jumps to Today Date

I don't know if this is a bug or a feature but I'm looking at a note and after like 5 seconds or something, Trilium will randomly jump to Today's Note. I don't want Trilium to move on its own at all ever; if I'm on a note even if I'm not doing anything, I want it to just stay there, and I couldn't find anything about how to turn this off if it's a feature, so maybe it's a bug? I'm really not sure. Thanks.

I couldn't find any documentation, settings, or support threads that explain or allow disabling Trilium's behavior of jumping to Today's Note. Codebase research also didn't reveal any configuration option for this; it looks like the behavior is either hardcoded or triggered by a specific feature, possibly related to daily journal automation. There was a somewhat similar bug reported in an older version, but it wasn't reproducible and doesn't match your exact situation source.

If you have any custom scripts, automation, or journal features enabled, you might want to check those. Otherwise, this behavior may require a code change or further investigation into your specific setup.

@mobamoba , can you provide a video of the issue so we can understand it better?
It's not supposed to happen.

Try going to the global menu -> Configure Launch bar and look for the "Today" button. Then check what value is in the "keyboardShortcut" field below the title bar.

Hmm I really think that won't be possible because I have no idea why or when it does that. The only thing I can think of is I have Trilium open on two different laptops. Could there be some server thing trying to sync them or something? Like I add a Today note, then go to another note then on laptop 2, it syncs the Today Note and moves both cursors? Really that's just wild guess I have no idea - I can't figure it out honestly.

Would debug logging help like do debug logs record that level of granularity of where the user is in their notes list?

And in mine there is no Today button section in Configure Launch nor is there any keyboard shortcut set for it.

@mobamoba the sync can't alter the navigation of the notes. It has to be something wrong on the client, I still suspect some kind of keyboard shortcut issue, although I can't seem to find anything related to Today's notes.

How often does the issue occur?

It occurs infrequently but often enough that I've noticed it. Am I wrong or was there some timeout setting in a prior version of Trilium where it would jump back to the most recent note or something like that? I feel there was something once in options or someplace where it would move the nav? I might be misremembering though. Anyway if that was there at some point, maybe there's holdover in the code?

It just happened again. Here's what I did:

Selected a note.
Scrolled up to some random calendar date
Clicked the arrow to expand that date but didn't select a note yet.
After a few seconds, Trilium jumps back to the originally selected note.

Are you able to reproduce that?

I was able to record it but is there a max file size for attachments? It's a 12MB MP4 and I don't really know how to shrink it more. Is there some other way I can send it to you?
