Help with CloudLink extension

I'm a bit confused. I've been coding for many years and am familiar with server side scripting such as PHP, database MySQL management, etc. and managing networking but I'm new to developing for real-time network communication (I've tinkered with cloud variables and web sockets extensively, but made nothing impressive or worthwhile).

I have a few questions:

1. I'm just going to assume it's theoretically possible to use this extension to create a Cloud Multiplayer engine?
2. is it possible to modify the Cloud Server source code so that attempting to connect to wss://clouddata.turbowarp.org doesn't fail or is this web socket reserved for only cloud variables? How come the Websocket extension can successfully connect to this server but CloudLink just says no?
3. What web socket servers are available to use with this extension, and would it be best if I created my own? How can I do this?
4. What are the pros and cons, compare/contrast this extension vs. the "Websocket" extension on the gallery
