[Organisational] Migration of this repository to Codeberg

In light of the fact that GitHub has belonged to the Microsoft group since 2018 and thus to a large group, like Amazon or Google, I would suggest trying to migrate the Lab to Codeberg.

@luto said that GitHub's main dependency for the Lab is building and deploying via netlify.com .

I think that this dependency could be worked on together with Codeberg so that a migration there would be possible.

Uberspace is a hosting service after all! Why not host it's own gitea and readthedocs?

What problems or dangers do you see if the Lab stays with Github? I don't particularly like Microsoft either, but in my opinion Github has not developed badly since the takeover.

And yes, the lab could be moved to Codeberg (I use it myself) or to its own Gitea instance. But we should also bear in mind that this might limit the number of potential helpers. Not everyone wants to create a new user account just to fix a few spelling mistakes in one of the instructions, for example. However, many users of Uberspace probably have a Github account.

I'm sharing the opinion of @Fryboyter - the number of lab contributions and also the maintainance commits for existing guides would probably drop, if it is decided to move away from GitHub.

Questions:

• Are there any real concerns/disadvantages about having the Uberlab repository on Microsoft-owned GitHub?
• Or is the only argument "we don't like Microsoft, because it doesn't fit to our mindset"?
• What would be the benefit of moving to Codeberg?

Suggestion:

• It would be good to create a list of pros and cons before making a decision (maybe update this issue's description with a list of pros/cons, that could be kept up-to-date?), e.g.:
  • (-) losing/having less contributors/maintainers when moving to Codeberg
  • (-) many projects referenced in the guides are on github itself. It is easier to link to related project issues in a "broken guide issue".
  • ... feel free to copy the points, add also (+) points
• Surely, the Uberlab is owned by Uberspace, but many other people have a stake in it, meanwhile. It would be good, if the community of lab contributors is involved in decisions like these.
