Misc Agent 9.0 back-compat issues

Hi,

I think Agent 9 or FW 16's macro templates blew things up for me quite a bit, luckily I got my UHK v2 recovered but my UHK 80 is kinda bricked. What I observed:

• Upgrade my Ubuntu 24 Agent to v9, upgraded UHKv2 FW and my config was bricked as being too new. I restored my previous config and things worked fine again.
• Plug in UHK 80 and upgrade FW, all good except I go to update a rather long macro. 2 issues then happen, I accidently save a blank macro as Paste stopped working, both the shortcut and right-click-pasting do nothing (pasting into other editors works fine). I accidently saved the empty macro and the UHK 80 crashes with a yellow error about config being too new. I can only restore to the blank-macro config, and any attempt to re-save kills the board with the "config too new" error again and I once again have to restore. I'm sure I can downgrade the FW and all that to get old configs back but I'd rather roll forward with an agent fix.

Confirmed the 80 is on v16.0 after flashing twice.

The inability to paste is a known issue with Agent. You should be able to paste with ctrl + shift + v.

Indeed you're correct! I could see that but when right click didn't even work I figured it must be a new bug but guess not 👍

Follow up: reproduced on Windows too, so it's just my user config version being written as 13.0.0, or something.

Could one of you share the user configuration before the upgrade if it does not contain any sensitive information.

Looks like a firmware issue to me. Please post the UserConfig that makes this happen and I will have a look.

My current config has passwords in it and I can't overwrite them due to the bug, so sadly I cannot post it in full. I read the release notes and remember something about how now the config version is being written somewhere it wasn't before, so my guess is that v13 got written and the v16 FW is tripping up over it... not sure how you migrate configs but maybe my 80's v13 config never got re-written to v16, just guessing at clues.

Not sure if manually hacking my userconfig to v16 would be the fix or anything. I also use just about every damn macro language feature (I'm the guy with maxed out macro storage space) so perhaps I'm the one guy using a feature that doesn't forward port perfectly. The UHK 80 was pretty up-to-date before this, maybe only 1 or 2 flashes behind current.

don't modify the config manually. Sometimes the "data" cause the issue.

Do you mean you used the developer builds? If yes then please follow the instructions of the #2796 PR

I think it is totally safe to manually edit it as long as you are sure to not change the json structure.

If you keep the strings at the same length and just change their content, then the issues are (almost) sure to remain there. E.g., replace your "1234" password with a "abcd" password.

If you change the lengths (since that also is a sensitive thing), then there is a chance that the problem goes away because of it, but I don't think it is high, so feel free to change them too.
