Map options are not customizable when using dcredbook

I was wondering if it would be possible to add some sort of map customization options to graphics generated with dcredbook. As of right now, you're limited to the GAREA option within redbook.tbl, as far as I, and the documentation, are aware. It would probably be beneficial to pass through some other customization options (such as PROJ, MAP, etc.) if possible.

Howdy, thanks for opening this issue!

I'll start by saying that GEMPAK is in maintenance mode, no new features or development are expected.

The decoders like dcredbook are converting data from one type to another, and what you end up with is another data file in redbook graphics format. Visualizing this data is the next step, and that is where projection comes into play. See this documentation page; in this example GPMAP is used to visualize the redbook data, and that is where proj/map can be set.

I'm curious, what is the desired use case for including this info in the data file? It's not often I hear about current uses of the redbook graphics format.

We're currently using data from an LDM feed to generate redbook graphics, among other things, for public use. We're using the built in dcredbook GIF output, which is why I was getting confused. I'll take a look at all of the GPMAP stuff shortly though.
