can not get maximum speed with external trigger

I am using the VC driver for L4T 35.4.1 in Jetson Orin Nano. With free run, the speed is 123 fps for 10-bit, but without trigger, I get only a maximum of 102 fps (with varying exposure time). Is this behavior correct, or do I need to make a change?
