Orion Context Explorer - no examples access

I recently tried to set up Orion Context Explorer using Orion Context Explorer.

It starts pretty well, however I can not gain access to examples. Without them it's really challenging to do something. I can go to localhost:7000, add some entities and it does not make any difference, however if I want to go to .../examples, server says in terminal [404]: /favicon.ico - No such file or directory. Same problem occurs if I start it on 8000 port as in github documentation.

I'm working on integrating the OCE solution for university laboratory purposes, so if there are any guides or scripts that help accustoming Explorer they would be appreciated.

Nice to have your feedback.

About the 404 on /favicon.ico happens because the browser(google chrome) always try to access the icon to put on the page tab.
You also can see the implementation here https://github.com/VM9/fiware-orion-explorer

The port 8000 is just an example, you can start it from any available port. After running the php native server (that's is only for development propose) you will be able to access it by http://localhost:8000/example

You must change the $ip variable in order to access your Orion instance.

The problem is, that I have nothing as a result under /example. In terminal after triggering it in browser I get
[Thu Nov 16 00:04:34 2017] 127.0.0.1:51771 [200]: /example
and the next line is empty with cursor alive as if server would be waiting for something to happen and in chrome I get this:

When I use Edge I got sometimes in addition
[Thu Nov 16 00:11:06 2017] 127.0.0.1:51848 Invalid request (Unexpected EOF)
Besides that, the examples site is still empty.

The main window of OCE seems to be working just fine, but I have no clue how to use it.

problem still persists, can I get some help please?

The thing is that if there's no acces to example materials, no one can figure out how this works. For now I postponed working on laboratory script due to lack of example access. Maybe there is a way of doing instructional pdf out of the examples or something? There is need for that information, because if I can't understand working of this precious tool, then the next generations of students won't too. The OCE comes with so much of a value that can not be omitted in academic work.

The /example path only exists on https://github.com/VM9/orion-explorer-php-frame-work (that's the lib repository)

The sample application (https://github.com/VM9/fiware-orion-explorer) didn't have it.

This application is a prototype, need some help to get improved.

But for now, I just need to fill the form:

• Name: A label to identify your instance on the side bar.
• Hostname / IP: You must provide the IP or Hostname of your OCB running instance. It should be visible to your machine.
• Custom headers: 3 default headers used by Orion is preset, but you may not need it. Any other header can be set by this feature. Content-Type and Accept are implicit and it is application/json

I Agree that it needs a better documentation but the OCE is too immature to receive it, for example, you cant manipulate data only view it.

For the PHP FrameWork, the /example is a good and interactive example, that implements the same
walk through from OCB documentation.

Thank you for your support. The last thing that I would like to know is which examples (as from fiware academy? https://edu.fiware.org/course/view.php?id=132 or just from documentation) from OCB you are using, so that I can be on the same page while writing scripts for laboratory.

To create these examples we used the walkthrough described here :

I think it is essentially the same of Fiware EDU platform.

While we are on topic is there an application that helps debugging or just checking XML code that is injected into OCB (some parser for example)?

If you OCB has a public IP you can use the demo instance http://orionexplorer.vm9it.com just configuring a new instance with your OCB IP.

You also can change the IP from the example of "List all entities" to get information about your instances.

The real difficulty is connenced directly to working on entities. Is there any program regarding making work easier, because there are commands for making, updating and so on, but they are far from being self-explainatory. I hoped for OCE to be key to making things more generic and friendly. Console working may be scary for some of the students and is nowhere near window based application. This direction help would be wonderfull.
