[Feature Request] Allow VRR and HDR on Desktop Mode

I don’t know how SteamOS works on regular PCs, but am I right in assuming that because I can’t see any options to access VRR and HDR in Desktop Mode for my VRR and HDR monitor, that maybe no one can? I don’t mean this in a rude way or anything, I just don’t know and don’t have a way to install SteamOS on anything else to test.

If so, this is a huge problem for people who do YouTube and stuff with OBS, because on Game Mode I know when I try to capture my screen, it’s just a black screen. I would need to install a bunch of stuff and modify config files to have a chance at fixing that black screen. And since VRR and HDR doesn’t seem to be available in Desktop Mode from what I can see, most people aren’t going to like the quality of their videos and streams.

If this is not just me since I’m on Steam Deck, please consider doing something for content creators that make the switch.

Everything I am saying here is assuming you have not checked your display settings in desktop mode- if you have done that already you can completely ignore this-

VRR and HDR are options you enable in the Display settings for your desktop (KDE plasma) while in desktop mode. Unless you have already done that and are talking about something very specific to OBS. While you are in game mode Steam uses a gui toggle to enable hdr and adaptive-sync and makes it easy for you. In desktop mode once you enable HDR and VRR in the display settings you need to use launch options per game to enable HDR and adaptive-sync either with gamescope or proton launch options with the appropriate proton compatibility layer such as GE Proton. You can get those custom protons from ProtonPlus which is an app you can get in the discovery store in desktop mode.
If this is not what you are talking about- again please ignore me- just wanted to make sure you were aware of this.
