Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe

As an engineer exploring the time series of events in the logs, I want to be able to navigate the timeline. This includes not only looking at the recent time range, but also the time range related to events that happened earlier.

Describe the solution you'd like

  1. I want to be able to scroll with swipe gesture or with mouse wheel while holding a control key. A typical control key for such a function would be the Mac Option key (Windows Alt).
  2. I want to be able to scroll initiating scroll with the middle mouse button.
Both these functions usually available in similar UIs.

Describe alternatives you've considered

I tried to navigate the timeline with zooming out followed by zooming in another region. While this is somewhat a working solution, it is not always convenient, because I want to stay at the same level of detail and slowly scroll horizontally.

Another way is specifying the time range in the "Time range controls" dropdown. This isn't very convenient; I want to scroll quickly without taking my eyes off the chart where I'm analyzing the event histogram's visual patterns, all while avoiding distractions. Using mouse or trackpad would be perfect for this task.
