stimulate ctrl+v in chrome

I am trying to stimulate ctrl+v in chrome. I wat to copy a table from excel an 
input it in the body of a message before it is sent out. 

I tried using the below code but did not get the result

selenium.sendkeys key.control, "v"

Please adivise
