Im not sure if this is a EEGLab or a BEATS issue, but when I try to use the plugin I get this window

To be honest, I have no idea. The mad function is a standard builtin MATLAB function -- it will accept just about any type of numerical input. I would suggest you put a breakpoint at the line in question and see if you can figure out what you are feeding in. If it works for most of the values, then put a try catch around it and put the breakpoint inside the catch end block.
