How does the Binary Contents comparison method differ from the File Size method?

Both seem to check the file size and little else, based on the documentation?

Also, does this mean that Binary Contents does not compare the modified date?

When using the Binary Contents compare method, if the file sizes of the two files do not match, it immediately determines that there is a difference.
If the file sizes match, it compares the file contents. This is where it differs from the File Size method.
Also, it does not compare file dates.
