Proposal: Promote Image Generation and Editing Experiment to Feature #416

@jeffpaul

Description

@jeffpaul

As originally proposed in #292 (comment), with low-fi mockup for a Features vs. Experiments layout in the AI settings page in #234 (comment), and potential image to show for the Image Generation and Editing Feature in #292 (comment), and as defined process-wise in our Feature and Experiment Lifecycle doc I propose that we formally promote the Image Generation and Editing Experiment to a Feature.

Support for this comes from Matt's comments (preference?) on the WordPress 7.0 Product Review Meeting:

6) AI in 7.0 (AI Client + connectors + user journey)

“What can users do after connecting?”

Need at least one “wow” workflow after connecting a provider.
Proposal: promote/rebrand “AI Experiments” into a canonical “AI” plugin (like Gutenberg: stable + experimental sections).
Image editing/manipulation highlighted as the best “wow” category; also mention summaries/synopses and focus-aware cropping.

Also from #234 (comment):

Add an "Available Features" section that includes any of the features available in the plugin from #236 or #237 (consider what other existing Experiments should be elevated to Features). For any Feature noted, provide a heading, an image (screenshot, designed graphic, etc), and a bit more description of the feature within a card display to give the Features more prominence than the Experiments sections below it

So for @Jameswlepage @felixarntz as AI team reps and @dkotter as AI plugin maintainer (removing myself from approval here as the one proposing this promotion), are you in support for this proposal and/or are there any iterations you would prefer in promoting Image Generation and Editing from an Experiment to a Feature?
