Fit Text: Rename to "Fit-width text"?

Over the past months, we've referred to the same feature as "stretchy text", "stretch text", and "fit text". We ended up settling with the latter, but a codename isn't the same as a user-facing feature name.

So, it "fit text" clear enough? Or should we rename it? Here is how it is presented:

I noticed @jasmussen referring to it as "fit-width text", and this seems like a good choice.

Depending on the outcome of this issue, we may want to update the GitHub label (currently "[Block] Stretchy Text").

Technically, it makes sense, but somehow "fit-width text" doesn't click like a great user term to me. Maybe because I'm a bit attached to the "stretch text" / "stretchy text" naming.

I can see why "fit text" needs a description though. The issue I have there is more with the description: it says:

The text will resize to fit its container, resetting other font size settings.

But this says nothing about the width. Should we say "to fit the width of its container" instead of "to fit its container"?

Hi @tyxla, we don't refer width explicitly because it can also fit according to the height of its container (it is very uncommon use case as most of the times the height can expand, but it is possible).

We can still use "Stretchy Text" on the UI toggle, technically the most used name of the feature is Fit Width but visually on the UI we can have a better "markting" name.

I'd also be quite open to Stretchy Text for user-facing name, but it's true that the description is tricky. "Fit to its container" is somewhat vague, but I hadn't considered the height-fitting scenario.

Seems this issue has gone stale. Is there any appetite here?

I'm inclined to close it, and anyone should feel free to reopen if they feel motivated by any renaming, e.g. Stretchy Text.
